ESSC - Coach/Parents/Player Code of Conduct
Coach’s Code of Conduct
Coaches should read and discuss all the Codes of Conducts with all members of your coaching staff and your team manager. It is a condition of the Club that all team/squad representatives always follow the Coach’s Code of Conduct.
Coaches are to treat players, parents, referees, and team and Club officials with fairness, politeness and respect and will not discriminate based on religion, race, ethnicity, or gender.
• Coaches will attempt to develop all players on a team or in a player pool.
• Coaches will not use vulgar or profane language at games or practices.
• Coaches are to arrive on time and be fully prepared for all games and practices.
• Coaches will teach players to play fairly and to respect the rules, referees, opponents, and spectators.
• Coaches will ensure that equipment and facilities are safe and match the players' ages and abilities.
• Coaches will never take part in a practice, game or team event while under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol.
• Coaches will not smoke at games or practices.
• Coaches will dress appropriately in approved Clubwear for all games and practices.
• Coaches are responsible for the payment of any fine imposed on the Club by a league, ASA or by CSA that is a consequence of their behavior.

Enforcement of the Coach Code of Conduct is the responsibility of the Edmonton Strikers Soccer Club Technical Staff and any allegation of a violation of the Coach Code of Conduct must be made in writing to the Club. The Coach will be informed in writing of the allegation and the Club will determine if the allegation is substantiated. If it is, then penalties will vary according to the seriousness of the allegation, and whether there have been previous violations, and will range from a written warning to dismissal.

Parent’s Code of Conduct
• I will be responsible for my child at every practice and game. Edmonton Strikers Soccer Club is not responsible for unsupervised players.
• My child plays soccer for his or her benefit, not mine.
• I will not give instructions to players -- that is the coach's role.
• I will never question the referee's judgment, integrity, or honesty.
• I will support all efforts to eliminate verbal and physical abuse from the game of soccer.
• If I am upset by something I will wait 24hrs before discussing the issue with the team coach and will do so in a private and constructive manner.
• I will not approach the team Coach prior to or during a session.
• I will show respect for all players, all coaches, all officials and all spectators at all times.
• I will encourage my child to play by the rules and to resolve conflicts without resorting to hostility or violence.
• Children learn by example. I will applaud good plays by both my child's team and their opponents.
• I will make sure that my child arrives for practices and games at the time designated by the coach, ready to begin.
• I will not take part in any form of bullying, whether that be to a parent, player, team coach, referee, or club representative. Bullying in any form, whether in person, electronically (any form of social media) will not be tolerated.
• I realize that the team can be penalized for my behavior. I will obey a request by a referee or from the team's Coach to leave the vicinity of the field.
• I will contribute my child's payment on time.
• I realize that failure to abide by the Code of Conduct may result in my removal of myself, and potentially my child, from the vicinity of the playing field and potentially further sanctions by the club.
Discipline
• Infractions that occur during the game are governed by the Laws of the Game and will be decided by the referee. There may also be further action by the league discipline committee.
• Certain serious infractions may result in a discipline hearing convened by the league, ASA or their delegates, and could lead to a worldwide suspension from soccer, and/or a fine being levied by the ASA/CSA. Payment of the fine is my responsibility.
• I am responsible for reimbursing the Club for any fines payable by the Club due to my actions or inactions.
Consequences
If for any reason the Code of Conduct is not followed by the parent(s), any [one or more] of the following steps may be taken by the Club:
• Request the parent not attend team events.
• Remove the player from the team.
Enforcement of the Parent Code of Conduct is the responsibility of the Team or Squad Head Coach and any allegation of a violation of the Parent Code of Conduct must be reported to the Club. The Parent will be informed in writing of the allegation and the Club will determine if the allegation is substantiated. If it is, then penalties will vary according to the seriousness of the allegation, and whether there have been previous violations, and will range from a written warning to dismissal.
